STEPHEN SHORTT |

Stephen Shortt is remarkable in the breadth
and scope of his achievements and skills and is an important and
internationally recognized Canadian artist. Born in Belfast, Northern
Ireland, Shortt studied at the Chelsea School of Art in London and later
emigrated to Canada. He is the recipient of a number of Canada Council
grants as well as a grant from the Quebec Ministry of Cultural Affairs.
Shortt's work has enjoyed wide exposure throughout Canada as well as the
United States in an exhibition history which dates back to 1975. He has
participated in group exhibitions at such notable venues as The
Alternative Museum. New York City; Le Mois de la photo. Montreal;
Gallery 101, Ottawa; Arte Fiera, Bologna, Italy; and Whitechapel Art
Gallery, London, England; among numerous others. Over the last decade he
has created a unique body of original paintings and limited edition
prints exploring the history and iconography of the healing arts. |
